Vancouver’s Neighbourhood Book Exchanges

One thing we love about East Vancouver is the sense of community. Have you spotted any of these quaint little book exchanges around the neighbourhood? Some located in a dry storage or shelving unit, and others resembling mini tree houses. Surprisingly, there are over 40 of these neighbourhood book exchanges all over Vancouver, most of them in East Vancouver (because East Van is awesome). We think it’s a beautiful concept. Take a book (or two) or leave a book – there is no deadline nor library fines. These pocket libraries or “Little Libraries” not only encourage people to read – they’re open 24 hours a day every day of the year! These neighbourhood book exchanges foster a sense of community, providing a meeting spot for neighbours to connect and share their favourite books!
